DR RICHARD FRIEND
OSTEOPATH
Rik is a highly experienced Osteopath bringing 25 years experience, graduating with an Honours degree in Osteopathy, 1999 from The British School of Osteopathy in London. He has worked through the years with many patients - from elite sports, chronic complex multi system health conditions to young children and the elderly. Having worked in leading clinics in the U.K., New Zealand and Australia, Rik brings a diverse wealth of experience and a broad range of Osteopathic approaches to each patient.
Rik took on an academic role whilst in the U.K., educating in both clinical and undergraduate settings, and brings that passion for education into his Osteopathic work, ensuring patients understand what is happening to cause the problem, and working with each patient to develop approaches to remedy the issue beyond the Osteopathic intervention.
Rik incorporates many Osteopathic techniques and approaches in his work, from muscular and soft tissue techniques, manipulation, subtle and indirect approaches. The philosophy of Osteopathy remains consistent whichever techniques and treatment plan is developed, and Rik adapts the approach in consultation with each patient and their preferences.
Rik enjoys cycling, walking, cooking and socialising. He has competed in cycling and running events for many years, but these days he enjoys the activities more for the experience rather than the competition.
